Chuar Uprising was started by aboriginal tribesmen of Midnapore district. The reason was famine, enhanced land revenue demands and economic distress. It lasted from 1766 to 1772 and again surfaced between 1759 and 1816.
Bajirao I tried to convince Shahu to attack the Mughals during their declining condition. He dreamt to fly the Maratha flag from the Krishna to Attock. Shahu accepted his proposal.
The road construction was said to have been too costly in India due to the terrain, the rivers, and the high repair costs due to the monsoons. This was the main reason due to which road length grew at a much slower pace than the railways.
