An Italian Physician, Gemelli Careri visited India in 1695 AD during the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and accounted the military organization and administration of Mughal empire at that time.
Women participated quite actively in the Indian national movement. They participated in the boycott of foreign goods, picketing of liquor shops, non-payment of taxes, and so on. All of the above movements drew women out from the seclusion of home.
