A man engaged a servant on the condition that he would pay him Rs.710 and a uniform after a year service. He served only for 8 months and got Rs.460 and a uniform. Find the price of the uniform?
Let the consecutive even numbers be A = 2x, B = 2x + 2, C = 2x + 4, D = 2x + 6 and E = 2x + 8= A + B + C + D + E = 130= 10x + 20 = 130∴ x = 130 - 20/10 = 11Therefore, product of A and E= 22 x 30 = 660
Average of 8 consecutive odd numbers = 656/8 = 82∴ Fourth number = 82 - 1 = 81∴ First numbers = 75Average of 4 even numbers = 87∴ Second even number = 87 - 1 = 86Second largest even number = 88∴ Required sum = 75 + 88 = 163
Divisibility of 11: If the difference of the sum of the digits at odd places and the sum of the digits at even places of a number is zero or a multiple of 11, then that number is divisible by 11.As per divisibility rule of 11, difference = (x + 21) - 18 = x + 3=> x + 3 = 11 => x = 8
